We compare and explain
You see options from multiple carriers with the trade-offs laid out in plain language.
Why use a broker
One company can only sell you its own policy.
Call a carrier directly and you will be quoted that carrier's product, whether or not it fits. We are independent, so our agents can put several carriers side by side and tell you where the differences actually matter — health questions, exam requirements, term length, and what a policy costs at your age.
If the best answer is a smaller policy than you expected, that is what we will say.
Start my questionsCoverage types
The three most people are choosing between.
Term life
Coverage for a fixed number of years, usually the cheapest way to protect income while children are at home or a mortgage is being paid off.
Whole life
Permanent coverage with a fixed premium and cash value that builds slowly over time. Costs more per dollar of coverage.
Final expense
A smaller permanent policy, usually simplified underwriting, meant to cover funeral costs and outstanding bills.
Questions
Before you start.
What does a policy cost?+
It depends on your age, health, coverage amount, and term length. A healthy 35-year-old buying term coverage usually pays far less than people expect; the same coverage at 60 costs several times more. We quote real numbers once we know your details.
Do I need a medical exam?+
Not always. Many carriers now offer accelerated underwriting with no exam for healthy applicants within certain age and coverage limits. If an exam is required, it is usually a short in-home visit.
What if I use tobacco?+
You can still get covered. Rates are higher, and carriers differ a lot in how they treat occasional cigar or nicotine-replacement use, which is one place a broker saves you real money.
What if I have been declined before?+
A past decline does not close the door. Underwriting rules vary by carrier and change over time, and guaranteed-issue final expense coverage exists as a fallback.
How much coverage do I actually need?+
A common starting point is ten to twelve times your income, adjusted for your mortgage, debts, years until your children are independent, and what your household would still have coming in. An agent works through that with you.
